Have you ever wanted to tap into your subconscious or your creative center? This workshop is designed to help you do just that. Have you ever wanted to tap into your subconscious creative center by didn’t know how? This workshop is designed to help you do just that. Touch Drawing is a meditative process created by artist Deborah Koffs Chapin. This process of drawing allows for you to dig into your subconscious to see what dwells there. It is a fun and relaxing way to meditate and it does not require that you have any artistic or meditative background or skills.
How this process works… The facilitator (Jen Otey) will demonstrate for you the Touch Drawing process and answer any questions at the beginning of the workshop. Then you will work for 90 minutes on a series of drawings using a 16 x 20 inch sheet of masonite, a brayer (small paint/ink roller), water soluble oil paint, and newsprint or tracing paper.
Then you will pair up with a partner to look at your drawings together to see what you notice about them. Does anything stand out? Is there a repeating pattern? Does anything bring up a memory or give you some sort of message. The last part of the workshop everyone will come together and each person will choose 2-3 drawings from your stack to share with the group. Each person will produce between 30-50 drawings. Some of them will have great significance to you. At the end of the workshop Jen Otey will tell you how you can further embellish the drawings you might like to frame or keep in a special place. This workshop will surprise you and teach you many things you may not have known about yourself. It will inspire creativity in a very simple and primitive way and it will connect you to others in a deeply moving and intimate way.
