We know that this is early…and we don’t like putting out Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving. But, we wanted you all to have the opportunity to make a 8-10 standing Santa Claus in time for the Christmas Holidays. Amy Roberts will be joining us again for this fun felting class. If you have not felted with Amy, you are missing out on a great time.
Amy Roberts has been needle felting for about 5 years, after seeing the technique once at a wool festival. Using online videos and trial and error, she has needle felted many items for herself, for gifts, and for sale at the Bland County Farmer’s Market. Her needle-felted red fox and three-toed sloth have won first place ribbons and a best in show at the Bland County Fair the past two years. Amy often does contract work, producing black bears, dairy cows, hedge hogs, etc… for customers of the farmer’s market. Amy has three Pygora (pygmy Angora) goats and one Olde Southdown Babydoll sheep, from which to harvest fleece. She also uses wool and mohair for weaving, spinning, and rug hooking. In her “spare time,” Amy teaches biological science courses at Radford University and New River Community College, and works in the summers as a herpetologist for the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
